I’ve never owned a gaming laptop, and only recently (2019) bought an actual gaming computer. The items always seemed too luxurious for me, and always out of reach. Sadly, I thought, I’d never have a high quality vidya machine, like the cool kids online.

Last year I started a new job, that while I absolutely hate, pays extremely well. And now my first gaming laptop, well, my first laptop that cost more than 300 bucks, is on its way to me.

Don’t get it twisted, it’s not a $2000-plus-alienware beast, but coming in at over $1300 it’s the most expensive ‘toy’ I’ve ever purchased.

I’m not overly familiar with current component power, I haven’t upgraded or worked on a computer since before 2010, but my new toy boasts some decent pieces of hardware:

An Intel i7 and a Nvidia RTX2060.

I am assured that it will run the 11 year old MMORPG I play beautifully.

My wife and I are still on the hunt for a couple Playstation 5’s, but this new computer will be an awesome asset for me; next month I have to go out of town for training and I’ll be gone for 6 weeks.

Considering that patch 5.5 for Final Fantasy XIV drops April 13th, I’ll be glad to have the ability to play together with my wife still, despite being so far away from her for so long.

I’m really looking forward to this little guy arriving this weekend.
